It depends for me. I usually imagine them like anime charcters, but if the novel has a movie or series adaptation (Harry Potter or Shadow and Bone for example), I'd imagine them as their real life counterparts.   reply

It was Fairy Tail for me. The anime was aired in a local channel (of course it's dubbed in our own language too), and I think they aired it up til the GMG era. Got impatient and wanted to know what happens so I decided to just watch the episodes on youtube instead of waiting for a half of an episode per day.
