It doesn't even matter what the genre is of what you're reading, you literally do not have to know the whole history of it to enjoy it?
Like as an example just because you're a great fantasy fan, you don't have to know the whole history of it to actually enjoy it in its entirety

I usually wake up at 7 am (except on friday where I wake up at 7:45 cuz I have free first period), snack a bit and walk to school at 7:20 am
School starts at 7:42 and ends at either 3:20 pm or 12:55 pm (only on thursday and friday)

It's heavily underrated and you're really gonna enjoy it if you love video games, anime and manga! (It refences them a lot and even had a crossover with Sonic once)
