Depends tbh - is this online or in person? Online I can see “babe” in an ironic sense working as long as they have the same vibe and humour as u, though lots of ppl do also unironically use this term in a romantic sense and could be weirded out by this. But in person, friends do call eachother babe tho in a genuine sense, so I think it works.
