I usually try to prevent it before it happens or right when it starts for me, so I don't know how effective this would be for you. The best thing I've found is to listen to loud music to drown out your thoughts, and do something that requires a lot of thinking, like a puzzle such as sudoku and word cross. It depends on what you read. For example, shounen ai BLs are totally fine and are acceptable for all ages. But when you get into the more hardcore stuff, 12 can be too young if the person doesn't have a mature mindset. Nowadays it's easier to tell or express an interest in yaoi, so you don't have much to worry about.   reply
