Before you read understand this might sound selfish. Thank you.

For Christmas my mother got me a bed frame. I’ve been wanting this black metal bed frame for the longest time. She got it for me and she showed a picture to me of what it looked like. It does have part of what I want. But it also has this awful orange colored wood for bedposts. She asked me if I liked it and I said yes. But in my head I’m thinking of ways to tell her I don’t particularly love it. I know it can be returned. And we may be able to find a cheaper option for the bed frame I originally wanted. But I don’t know if I should tell her. I talked to my sister about this and she said I sounded a little selfish and that I should probably just deal with it. But with something as expensive and long lasting as a bed frame wouldn’t it be better to get what you actually want rather than being unsatisfied?

My sister also suggested painting the wood black, which would make it look more appealing (and I would be willing to do). But painting the bedposts would also require me to confront my mother right after giving the bed frame to me and ask her to buy me paint (I’m underage and have no car). But why go through the trouble of painting the bed frame if we can get what I want at a cheaper price (plus paint costs money and painting costs effort).

Should I tell my mother that the bed frame is pretty it’s just not exactly what I was looking for? Should I ask her to buy me paint after buying the frame? Should I just ignore the bedposts? Or should I do something else entirely?

about scared of
The ones that come up to you randomly and rub your back in a circular motion and ask you how you are. I had mine in elementary. They aren’t nice to everybody, just a couple kids at a time. I asked one of my friends and she said she shared a similar experience. Why are you constantly trying to comfort me mr. teacher I’m not even in any distress. Are you just being nice to me because I was well behaved?
