My favorite visual novel/manga and one of my favorite stories of all time is Umineko no naku koro ni (Umineko: When They Cry), so I would highly recommend reading that. Of course, the visual novel is pretty expensive (more than 50 dollars on Steam if you don't buy it during a sale) and the anime adaptation is incomplete and filled with plotholes so......   reply

I see many comments saying "I read yaoi because the girls in shoujo are so annoying" or a variant thereof. Which is fine; I don't care for them either (I haven't even read any non-yuri shoujo manga).
