If you're really worried, just ask the author, but yes, technically, if the author's copyright states anything against recreation (which is usually doesn't) there is an issue. I mean it really depends on how they wrote the character. If they wrote it like, from child to adult while the author is also an adult, yeah it's kind of weird tbh because it's like grooming in the most metaphysical way possible.
