I dunno how to answer that tbh it's hard to keep friendship especially when one is uninterested or that the two of you have nothing in common, that is probably why it feels empty when you talk to each other. Set an alarm the day before the due date of your assignment. I can't say that I can relate to your missing works but I can relate to your procrastination. I would always cram at the last hour or sometimes I would totally forget to submit assignments since I've been too focused with my laziness (reading stuff, watching netflix, games, etc).
