For me, I consume media that totally takes me out of the equation. I'm a woman and pan, yet I find it harder to read yuri or m/f because there will always be a situation I'm meant to relate to in given scenarios, and I find it impossible to see myself in them. Regardless of whether, as you say, he's just 18-19, a relationship should never be built on a lie in the first place. Not only is she underage which is putting him and her at risk, but she's also choosing to wait until it's "legal" believing that everything will work out when it hits that magic number.
