Changing the skin colour of an asian character (often east asian) to imitate another race (often black) is just as bad as white washing. you do realize that light skinned asians are still POC right? just because our skin colour happens to be closer to caucasians does not mean we get white privilege and surprise surprise, we dont. model minority ste......   2 reply

Clarifying for the people who didn't see the call out posts and didn't understand, because this is most likely a reply to that (and to be honest should have been posted as a reply or at least worded in a way where specific background information is not needed) OP is basically saying it's wrong to use the fact this is an illegal site as an excuse t......   3 reply

Just wanted to thank you first for being polite and not trying to justify how authors shouldn't be complaining about their works being uploaded illegally or acting like you have the right to read comics. It's because they happen to be finding the site now. It didn't HAVE to be now but it just happen to be now since t's a lot easier to find them n......   2 reply

Gentle reminder to give proper credit to the artists when sharing their fanart! By "proper" i mean the link to the ARTIST'S post or their ID from whatever their social media/pixiv page you got it from. Pinterest, those fanart reposting accounts, and "credit to the artist" do not count as proper sourcing. If you can't be bothered to do a reverse goo......   reply

While it's true it was used as a derogatory insult against asian people to comment on their eyes and generally smaller body size, it's also used as an insult to people in general. Rats are generally associated with uncleanliness and in the middle ages (500 to 1400–1500 CE) it even caused the bubonic plague; so it's not like when the word "rat" wa......   reply

what do you mean by "works"? as in the person can pass by as the opposite sex while wearing "feminine/masculine" looking clothing (put in quotes because people can wear whatever they want as long as it's respectful but some clothes more commonly associated with one sex)? if yes then that would depend on the individual person's body features. people who tell others to kys and make hateful speech (in general but especially) against others on the basis of their actual or assumed gender, sexual identity, and/or race, whether or not its a "joke". yes this includes against caucasian and cis/het people. there are plenty of other ways to insult someone that doesn't bring gender or race into it......   reply

I hope the person who commented 'why would you pay to read if you can read illegally' (paraphrased) was saying that as a joke since this post is satirical. If not, that kind mentality is the biggest problem with pirating sites. To answer OP's question, whenever there is a legal site hosting a comic for free (either you go on and can read right aw......   reply

amateur at translating is fine, but please make sure whoever you recruit has a decent understanding of JP and doesn't heavily rely on machine translations. mistranslations can have serious effects that can make a character seem more negative or an awful person when the actual line was harmless. the seriousness varies depending on the mistake, but i......   2 reply

I think if you want to be labeled, that's fine and if you don't want to be labeled that's fine too. In terms of labeling other people/characters I generally hate it because there are a lot of people who take their assumptions on a higher level than a headcanon and treat it like actual canon. I find this is particularly a problem with people/charact......   reply

A lot of KR (and JP) legal sites from what im aware of have ways to read there for free, even if it's not instant and there are a lot more people who are willing to go through the time and effort to read for free legally or pay if they can't be bothered. im not as certain with korean culture, but at least in japan, holding content creators with hig......   reply

Don't touch people's fanart at all unless you have permission from the artist period. If you don't get a response, you should ASSUME YOU AREN'T ALLOWED unless you get one or the artist has a statement allowing it. This is especially true for east asian artists because it's deemed common sense not to share (and therefore steal) other people's art. ......   reply

before i start anything, id like to clarify the definitions i'll be using moving on. here are some LEGAL sites/apps where you can read JP manga. Some of them follow a coin system (that you can earn by logging in or ads), some have ads every few chapters, some don't have any but after a certain time period (usually a couple of months) you can't read older chapters. some apps have promotions where a whole series, or chapters hosted i......   reply

It's wrong because they are real people. They have their own personalities, feelings, and thoughts that aren't fake; unlike fictional characters that are the result of someone's imagination. In imagination land, anything is possible; but the same isn't true for real people. the people you're writing about can get HURT by what you write. fictional c......   reply

While I do think that it is a little overused, personally I'm fine with both. Someone mentioned above and that calling the maternal donor mom is completely fine and I agree with that. we call the earth 'mother earth' and the two cells that result from mitosis 'daughter cells' despite them not having genders and there's nothing strange about that. o......   reply

action movies and books have romance between a ml and fl but does that mean it's BL? its the same case here. people just think its bl because unfortunately mlm content that isn't BL is few and far between so whenever people see a mlm relationship that is very predominant in the story they automatically think it's BL.
