Why are we even asking these questions? They’re redundant. That’s like asking why are non Japanese people reading manga at all? By that line of thought, everyone has to stay in their lane and can’t explore other things because you don’t “fit”. Kinda dumb, no? In regards to yaoi, people forget that yaoi is a sub-genre or spin-off of sho......   reply

For me it’s most ships, whether they end up being canon or not. But of the popular ones let me think.... Eren/Mikasa- I can see her liking him, but I can’t see him reciprocating. He had more of a potential romantic connection with Annie or Historia. Ichigo/Rukia- we know how that went, but even before, I never saw them as being romantic. ......   reply

The assumption of roles. Usually, they’re half ways into it, when one will ask the other “is it ok if I put it in?” but he’s already assuming he’s the one that will top. I dunno, but I would think that is something that needs to be talked about before hand. Just because you don’t want to bottom doesn’t mean the other party wants to d......   2 reply

Off the top of my head, the only one I can remember is this hentai where the girls were amputated to be made into “furniture”. Also anything by Oyster. Their hentais are pretty messed-up. Back in my early days of fandom, I liked reading some pretty disturbing things, not so much anymore.   2 reply

Uh yaoi is a sub-genre of shojo. It’s always been written for women, primarily by women. So long story short, yaoi was meant for straight women to enjoy. Maybe you can point those people on Twitter to look up the history of yaoi.   reply

1) What is up with people’s obsession with babies? No I don’t want to see mpreg, I will drop that s*it immediately. I don’t care how hot the couple is, no I still don’t want to see your kids. 2) Kids. They’re usually a nuisance in the story, usually they do something stupid when trying to be “helpful” and end up complicating things. ......   3 reply

I read it for the sex mainly, not to look for ways to be offended. In short, I enjoy reading BL in general and if there happens to be a series the rubs me the wrong way, I drop it, simple as that. As the saying goes, different strokes for different folks. I may like a series you don’t; life goes on. BTW, I’m asexual.   1 reply

I think if you want to introduce someone to BL, try any of Nagisa Furuya’s stories. They’re short and sweet. My faves of hers are https://www.mangago.me/read-manga/hoshi_dake_ga_shitteru/ https://www.mangago.me/read-manga/gunjou_no_subete/   reply

Woo boy... I didn't think I was that stupid as a kid until I go back and read my diaries/journals then I cringe. Anyway, one particular cringe-y moment I remember clearly was back in 6th grade ( so I was about 11) and this girl in my class said that she had paid the kid I had a crush on $5 to date her when they were 5th graders. So I was very curio......   1 reply

I probably won't be much help, but in my younger days I kinda felt a little like that. I wondered if there was something wrong with me, or if I was broken. It wasn't until college that I realized I was asexual and so my worries went away. I'm not saying that's your case, but at 21 I had no experience and over 10 years later I still don't. Sometime......   reply

Id like a more faithful adaptation of No. 6. The manga did. Decent job of squeezing 9 novels into 9 manga volumes. The anime did some (to me) unnecessary changes to some pivotal scenes. Overall, I hated the anime, but love the novels and manga and would like to see this reanimated better. Also would like to see Fruits Basket Another be animated. I......   2 reply

Heck yeah. I'm 32, working a full time job, and I don't think I'll ever completely stop reading manga. My tastes have changed since I started reading at 18, but overall I like the medium and the stories it can tell, just like I still enjoy comic books. I think tastes can change, time can become less for enjoying what you like, but deep down if it'......   reply

I don’t mind uncensored, even if the anatomy is drawn weird. Especially when it’s described in story but all you see is white, it’s a bit annoying. For example there have been times when character A looks at character B’s anatomy and comment on color saying something like “it’s darker than I thought” or “such pretty color” yet all......   reply
