One of the things I’ve noticed bothers me about BL is the fact that character A just assumes character B is going to be ok bottoming. I think yaoi has slowly moved away from that trope. I’m not saying it doesn’t happen at all, but at least most of the new series i follow either have both characters be fairly “equal” in the body type, and even if they are not, one half is not drawn super “soft” to resemble a female.
