I don't think so at all, it's not like there's a switch that turns off your interest in reading romance once you turn 40. This is a completely normal thing and it's kind of silly people actually think otherwise. I mean, most mangaka/authors are middle aged.
I think people have negative opinions on it because of the stigma around BL/yaoi readers. ......
