Speaking as a gay man... it's not. It's a fictional setting with characters that really only vaguely resemble real life LGBT experiences. I think the only way you get into fetishizing is if a fan (could be anyone tbh, cis straight girl or not) somehow super imposed this desire to see gay men with each other in real life despite the people in ques......   1 reply

I'm gay and I enjoy yaoi. I don't take it very seriously, it's light-heated or angsty romance with the occasional smut. It's rare for a yaoi manga to seriously tackle LGBT issue and I don't really expect it anyway. It's fantasy. As for fetishizing, I honestly don't care. The flaws and tropes I see in yaoi are prevalent in a lot manga. Just look at......   2 reply

See to me the major broach on if something is offensive or not is if it goes into real life. In terms of the books, like manga, I don't care. Read and enjoy whatever you want, even if it's 100% just gay porn. BUT if you harass anyone in real life that is a crime. You need to be aware that a person is a person, not just their orientation (etc..). Y......   reply

Eh... that's murky territory. Do women who read erotica/smut with straight relationships objectify other women and the men inside as well? What about lesbians who read and write lesbian romance novels or manga? I'm a gay male and I enjoy yaoi. I don't care that it's written by women or who it's written by for that matter, as long as it's a good s......   2 reply
