It really depends on when and where you're planning on going. For me, studying abroad was actually cheaper than studying in my hometown, and while I had a serious case of the shut in syndrome for a bit, I made new friends (better ones in some cases), and those who really cared stayed in touch no matter what.

Can't think of anything that tops that.
Lads doing crack in the forest trail behind the homes, stumbled across them by accident. It was dark and we were completely lost and walking around in circles with no idea that they sitting there watching us. Even though they didn't budge, the moment we caught sight of them we freaked and ran.

Whenever I can afford it. Also, tend to save up before any Anime/Comic con to splurge on books/merchandise.
I am careful though; I tend to stick to things that I think I'll still love/use/display years later.

1. Shock and horror. Thought I was reading something else and then this guy jumps this other guy. Total shutdown.
2. Regret it when I first read it by accident? Yes. What I thought was going to be a fight between two brothers turned into forced sex. Not cool.
Regret it now after having read so many? No. There's some beautiful and moving work o......

My first anime was Captain Tsubasa, course it was dubbed in Arabic and called Captain Majid. Took me YEARS to find out that it was actually of Japanese origin, which happened soon after I read my first manga (turned out to be a manhwa), Island. I'd never seen art like that before, and needless to say, was hooked. First manga was Death Note.

4. *Not Loading* (Bummer, was looking forward to that one)

Not a big fan of shotacon, or anything younger; I'm sorry it's just wrong.
Anything where anyone's just getting abused, there've been mangas where I counldn't even get past the first chapter, where you coudn't even call it S&M it's just torture.
