Actually, in Japan, yaoi is restricted to readers over the age of 18. It is only on these fan based reading sites that yaoi is available to readers under 18 because there is no regulation on privately uploaded files. "Rape" in erotica or erotic fiction isn't an issue for adults because adults have learned through life experience that fantasy stor......   3 reply

I am so glad someone else finally mentioned it. Rape is NOT ment to be romanticised. It is one of he single most horrible experiences a person can go through. there are a few yaoi tropes that I find.. morally questionable. Like incest and pedophilia. But rape in particular seems to be romanticised and made in to something sexy, cute and sweet, whe......   reply

Ok first of all little girls shouldn't be reading yaoi and if they are well they should know what they're getting into like c'mon its yaoi lol but usually rape in yaoi does involve some sort of love between the main characters because if there wasn't well there just wouldn't be a story line there (duh) and I think that's probably why I'm okay with ......   4 reply

i actually like the rape story but only because i know its fiction, and i have the understanding about the characters and the story. is it ok for the seme to rape the uke just because his afraid to confess? sure why not, but in real life if you love someone and rape them its a big no no. People need to know how to seperate fiction and reality, and ......   2 reply

Tbh, no it doesn't bother me, what bothers me is the unoriginal plot line. Nowadays when I see rape I get annoyed not because it's rape but because the last 50 mangas I read used the exact same device. Speaking as someone that started reading questionable materials at the age of nine, the things I have read haven't traumatized me neither has......   reply

I think anyone who has read yaoi is bothered by it. The problem is rape is used as a plot point in yaoi... so after reading about 10 yaoi titles with rape as a means of showing love - the reader is desensitized. We cannot entirely blame the mangakas. Most of them are women and could possibly have never really met a same sex couple irl. The probl......   reply

You have to understand that yaoi is aimed at mature audiences. It is rated 18+, so these mangas cannot be bought by minors/kids in the bookstore. But because these mangas can be easily accessed through the net, of course everybody can read it now. You also have to understand that the stories in yaoi are work in fiction. It is not based in real life......   1 reply

yes. Even if its fiction but it jus bothers me. Like do u understand? The victim is forever traumatized and also may lead to trust issues with love. I don't get why people would use rape in a story like is this entertainment for you? again, I know it's just fiction!   2 reply

Not rape itself, but the way its portrayed; in not only a romantic way, but a necessary/the sole trigger for characters to commence a relationship. I've seen people make the argument that it's SAD that a character hasn't been raped... For them rape = being desired = good. It's causing some yaoi fans to get the wrong idea for sure, and blurring the......   reply

Gonna be honest. I'm not bothered by it. In fact I love the stories that explore these taboo subjects. It excites me. It's an unspoken desire, which is never accepted in reality which is why we read fiction. Fiction gives us this opportunity to explore or to unleash these fantasies of ours, which explains why most of the time it is romanticized. ......   3 reply
