(LGBT+ member here, lesbian tho) Haha ohhhhh a history lesson, ‘fujoshi’ literally translates to ‘rotten woman’ and the history of the term is that it was coined by misogynistic and homophobic men who believed that if a woman enjoyed BL content, she was rotten aka unmarriable The term I believe now has been reclaimed by Japanese women and ......   2 reply

I get this a lot. "YoU aRe FeTiShIzInG gAyS!!1!". First of all, no, I'm not. Just because I like Yaoi/BL doesn't mean I want to be gay and do this. Defending myself is awful, especially when I have to it ALL THE TIME. Yaoi is an amazing genre, and it's tarnished by the fetishizers. Rant over.   1 reply

A lot of them weird me out ngl. Excusing fucked up tropes that are being normalized in this community just because "its yaoi logic", or looking at gay men as gay men rather than individual people. There are way more reasons but they rub me the wrong way. That being said, you can read yaoi and not be a fujo, straight women can read it but its when ......   1 reply

Back in 2015, when I started reading BLs, fujoshi was not seen as a bad word. Nowadays people conflate it with fetishizing gay men, because of 'fujoshis' being predatory towards real men(plus the portrayal of fujoshis in anime like Kiss Him Not Me). So I would opt to not use the word if you don't do that bc it conflates you with the negative stereo......   1 reply

The hate given to the community as a whole deeply hurts me. The negativity towards fujoshis involve an unfortunate stereotype. Like almost all stereotypes, their will be individuals that fit into it. I don't see my love my BL as fetishization. I relate to it more that with just a man and a women, but at the end of the day what it means for somethin......   reply

Uhhh, if anyone says that fujoshis are disgusting yada yada yada, they’re just most likely homophobic. Because what are people reading bl gonna do? Go on a murdering spree then say they had a bad day? Nahhh, and for real tho how many fetishizers have you met irl? Probably none. You’ve met misogynistic men and homophobic fuckers, so worry about ......   reply

As an ex-fujoshi myself I hate the fandom The fandom is pretty similar to men who get off on lesbian porn. Most of them only focus on the sex aspect. A work gets popular on the basis of how good the smut looks. If a work doesn’t have smut the conment section will be filled with comments like I wish this was yaoi, when will they have sex etc. Y......   1 reply

As a lesbian with many gay friends I strongly dislike most fujoshis. Yaoi is often very fetishizing and tends to romanticize abuse, toxic relationships, ectera. It's just gross to see queer men like,, existing in general and the comments just filled with (usually straight) girls bragging about how much they get off to them. Like they treat gay rela......   reply

Small frame of reference here: i have been around the Yaoi/BL community since the days of lemon... take from that what you will. I was also into this before i came out as Bi and Non-Binary. Though each community does things differently, I see the term Fujo/Fudanshi extremely similar to Weaboo. like.... it's not a fucking title you want to have. i......   reply

Okay so I've been reading BL/yaoi for a long time and all in all there is nothing wrong with enjoying the genre and liking to read it. It's entertaining and can give really good representation. That said, there are still a lot of issues with BL/yaoi as a whole and it affects the term as well. There are a lot of self-proclaimed fujoshis who don't k......   reply
