I get why people are saying there's really no need to tell your mom you like yaoi as it is not how you personally identify as but if your parents know and accept it, I guess it'll just make your life easier ? I believe there isn’t a need to tell your mother about you liking yaoi, (yuri, etc.) but if it has to do with your identity or something related to that, then that’s completely different. But if you want to let her know you like watching/reading/seeing 2-D men get together, then just naturally let her see it. For example, buying a poster or boo......   reply

Aww honey, if you have a good relationship with your mom and you want to tell her, just do it! If you are scared, maybe think how to phrase it. Personally, I never would. My mom isn't terribly chill, but even if she was, I probably wouldn't tell her. Yaoi is more explicit than shounen ai, so talking to my mother about reading it would feel a little like discussing watching porn with her. I know it's not the same thing, but it's the closest thing I can think of to describe the uncomfortable......   reply
