I think the most important thing to me is the art style tbh. All time favorite things in a yaoi are reversible roles, something that makes it a bit spicier (like a taboo trope ((Like a priest and a demon getting it on or sibling incest), plot points or character traits that genuinely surprise me, bottoms that are really into it and are not shy.
