your first pet
A little piece of cartoon on a string. I was not allowed to have a dog because my crazy sister was afraid of them, so I ''made'' one myself. The worst part was when winter came, and my father tore it in two pieces and used half of it to make a fire. I was older than I care to admit. I think I named him Fifi. I buried the other half in snow, had a funeral and everything.
But if we're talking about real animals, I had a rat. I just brought it home one day, my mother and sister were screaming but I kept it. It took me awhile to tell her the rat is pregnant haha :D But when she gave birth, my mother texted me: ''Your mouse has little mice. They're naked. Eew.'' (funnier in my language, because the rats name was Misha and we say mish for mouse)

I don't think he knew about it. I remember my mother scolding him a little, that was it. We don't really say sorry in our family, we live on sarcasm. But he didn't laugh at my face for crying about a cartoon pet, so yeah.
It is about the tails, I don't know why they find it so disgusting.
Nice, one rat made a better childhood for the whole generation of kids :D
I sympathize for you a Fifi - Parents don't always recognize the value a child places in seemingly "trivial" objects. I can only hope your dad was apologetic afterwards.
As to your rat, I had a similar experience when I brought the science class rat (named Bernice) home for the summer. I hadn't thought it would be a problem because I'd had gerbils and hamsters, but my mom nearly freaked out. It is something about the tails, I guess - lol. Anyways, by the end of the summer we both had decided rats were THE BEST rodent pet anyone could ever have, and when the science class decided they didn't want to keep Bernice, she moved from the science classroom to my mother's classroom (my mom was a teacher in a different school) and every time Bernice had babies, they would have to draw lots to see which students could have one because the rats were so popular. I still miss Bernice. She was a very special rat. (I like the name pun :D)
