I've come to hate the entire anime/cosplay fandom
So, after 30 years in manga and anime, I've come to realize, that I hate with a passion, what the so called "community" has turned into. I live in Japan as a normal person, between other normal Japanese, not bothering anyone. People here like anime and manga, but they don't brag about it and it isn't a big part of their daily life. Japanese cosplayers only show up for special events or on Halloween. Nobody cares about this phenomenon and it is not - I repeat, NOT - part of everyday life. But over the last ten years, a lot of foreign girls have come to Japan to make money with cosplaying and similar stuff in Tokyo. Harajuku fashion and what not. I wasn't really paying attention to them before, because I'm not in Tokyo. But since a lot of them have started channels on YouTube and TikTok, promoting their adult hobby like it's something normal in Japan, we get an influx of weird tourists, running around in Harajuku street fashion, just being annoying and making the locals uncomfortable. I've spent my entire adult life in this country and the stuff that's been happening in the last ten years, is embarrassing to say the least. People who practically never really leave Akihabara, give "tutorials" about what and what not to do in Japan. What do these people really know?? Also, these girls go to certain infamous areas - scantily clad in over-sexualized maid dresses! - and then complain on YouTube about stalkers, gropers and misogyny. Some of these girls have lived here for ten years, constantly complaining about the same issues. I mean, when do they get the message?! I wonder about their visa status. I guess a lot of them use the English teachers route, but I'm not sure. And I don't care. I want them to stop. They attract nuisance streamers, creepy ass tourists and other problems, while whining about how sexist this country is. I'm so over this! Anyways, rant over. ε=ε=(ノ≧∇≦)ノ

Seems like a valid rant to me. I hate when tourists go to other countries and make fools of themselves. It's so embarrassing.
It absolutely is. And it puts us foreign residents in the neighborhood in such a bad light. The moment I talk, and people realize I'm a local, it's fine, but just seeing me, they can't tell, of course. It's incredibly frustrating. And it just wasn't like that 20 years ago. Even ten years ago.
That sucks. I can only imagine it's getting worse with the recent drama involving a foreigner defacing an important statue? or something like that.
