Romance or no romance in action manhwa/manga?

I mean, this generally makes a lot of sense. But in a lot of these action manwha, the world is literally on the edge of destruction. Using stories with dungeons and monsters as an example. A lot of stories like that don't develop love interests well so the sudden romance feels shallow and forced. And no one really likes it when the love interest is a damsel in distress.

I know Solo Leveling can be a bit polarizing, but I think it's a good example. Cha Haein is one of the only S rank hunters in South Korea and she has multiple years of experience on Sung Jinwoo in high level dungeons. But she suddenly becomes a damsel in distress where he's involved and has to be saved. Not to mention that Jinwoo didn't really express any sort of romantic interest in her, but suddenly calls her up for a date when there's a giant
dungeon that could everyone they know and love about to break.

I think it's a little different if it's just a fighting manwha and not one where everything is on the line, though. It really just comes down to how the character is developed and whether or not they stay faithful to their own characterization.

And sometimes people just want to see cool fights and watch the main character get stronger.

That, and harems are freaking annoying. They have the main character go around collecting love interests like Pokémon. Gotta have a fire type, a ghost type, an electric type, and a water type. Then they go with the one the character has the least amount of chemistry with.

Tldr: Properly develop your love interests and their relationship or face the wrath of your fandom.
