ruins my day

MadChimpanzee MadChimpanzee 2025-01-12 09:07:31 About arguing online
Arguing online is a great way to start disliking social media. I have argued online many times before, starting from the day I was introduced to the internet and learned how to type. I don't know how I got myself into those situations. I did like reading comments on posts, I still do but now I control my feelings when I see someone I disagree with. My days were always filled with negativity due to what I had been consuming online, and even if I had won the many arguments I started, there was always this uneasy feeling lingering after. Which made me hate being on my phone. It got so bad that I deleted Instagram, Tiktok, Twitter etc.
Spending your time spreading hate online is not a good way to live your life, especially as a teenager. I'm now turning 18 and I've noticed a big change in my mood and everyday life after taking a break from social media.
I'm not saying that everyone should delete their socials just to be "happier" or anything but if you're going to be online, I want you to surround yourself with media that isn't particularly negative or learn how to control your feelings when you see something that gets on your nerves. I never participate in any forum question things like this but this one intrigued me to write something lmao
I love this site, and I love you all! ٩(๑❛ᴗ❛๑)۶

Realest shit I've seen today!!! Couldn't have worded it better myself. There were days where I was so upset due to an argument i had online, it affected my mood irl. In the recent years I've argued so much with religious extremists, mysogynists, neo nazis, sexual deviants etc and it has amounted to nothing except reducing my lifespan. Getting political online was my daily ritual during the lockdown, and I've formed some very strong opinions that a lot of people don't like. But now I've deleted all my socials, got off reddit (thankfully that site was giving my critical brain damage), and life's good now. Now I can keep my anger issues in check too, i avoid any sort of controversial and political discourse that I see online now.

Are we the same person?? lmao reddit is a horrible website if not used carefully. And the lockdown was one of the darkest times of my life due to being so chronically online arguing with other mentally unwell beings

True true. It was arguing + negative news for me. During lockdown I got used to seeing so many brutal cases against women on news and media + arguing with braindeads that afterwards I felt fear from every guy and felt everyone was stupid
Irrational, but hard to remove.
Well, I also went thru what u did and got better :3

Seems like we all went through a tough time during the lockdown with such similar experiences lol

Yeah i remember the first time i got '' triggered '' and started to '' flame '' = roast someone by writing a very emphatic and passionate reply to a post that wasn't even a question, and it wasn't a post that this person (my cousin) posted themselves (it was horoscope generated automatically on their page :-D i argued with a horoscope generated by a robot :-D)

It's nice everytime we can remember to breeze and take a little bit of distance, and remember to switch off = log off. Or disengage. And take care of our bodies and our good heart <3

Thanks for the reminder.
