I can only name 1, that being Violet Evergarden. Good ass shit. But that's kind of why I got out of anime because of the lack of strong female characters. Your question is fully warranted here.   reply

yesssssiir you are 100% correct. Anime and manga as a whole is mainly geared towards males, you gotta look in a tiny corners and peak in various nooks and crannies to find something which doesnt sexualize its females characters. Its very, very difficult to do so. Which is why I have a rule of just watching anime which doesn't have romance. Sounds l......   reply

There are some good ones though few, like akatsuki no yona for manga, she grows as a character and doesnt act like a dude in order to be strong. ID invaded for anime, its newer and breaks a few female stereotypes in my opinion. I think I've seen a lot more solid female role models in the korean comics, like Raeliana, Monster Duchess, Sudenly Became......   1 reply

Lets say some latest series are like that so I tend to stick to my fave mangakas just so I wont be frustrated to what I've accidentally read (w/ch btw portrays women being so dumb, annoying or i dunno). And I completely feel what you mean so I just give up on some mangas that Ive currently seen. And if there is a women empowerment series that Ive......   reply

ok, so here's my list for female characters that are bad-ass and have a strong and complex personality in a way that impacts the manga/anime i.e they don't just beat up anyone or you can replace them by a male character by just redrawing the face or they yell in a noisy voice all the time. 1- Real Mayer from Ergo Proxy (my all time crush) 2- Olivie......   4 reply

I felt the same way you do and even stopped reading shoujo/romance manga for that reason. That was until I found the gyms hidden in webtoons. I'll share some of my recommendations for strong/self-efficient female leads in case you wanted to enjoy some. Kusuriya no Hitorigoto Cheating Men Must Die Feng Ni Tian Xia The Villainess Lives Twice Death ......   reply

Yeah it’s true, and it bothers me sometimes. I’ve just learned to look past it and try to enjoy the content that make the anime/manga amazing. In the cases where I do see strong female characters, I have such a visceral, positive reaction that makes me yearn for more. I’m sure it’ll change over time, albeit slowly.   reply

If we are to be totally honest here, men writers/ mangakas simply can not write women characters /well/. Emphasis on the term "well." I've come to notice this over time as I read manga and watch anime. They simply don't. No matter how they try to slice it, or try to say they do, the reality is they don't. I can count on one hand the number of femal......   reply

Just for the lolz I will throw myself in this and probably regret it immediatly. Yes, anime and manga is full of objectified women, even if you disregard those with an ecchi-tag (since there it is just part of the package). Maybe that is because of japanese culture, which is way more reserved than anime lets the rest of the world believe. Also eve......   1 reply
