I'm a k-pop stan and I stan both girl groups and boy groups . Tbh I don't really find any major difference between gg and bgs , because the groups I stan are mostly well versed in singing and dancing both (I'm just saying that some k-pop groups have good music but the idols cannot literally sing live). Some k-pop fans Stan only bgs (most of them) and I don't really like it when I hear them say that "nooo I only stan bgs" like it's not really a problem for me but there are soo many good ggs too ;).
But lately I've seen a lot k-pop fans that Stan a group because of a specific "idol" not cause of their talents for, them they literally work on . There was a junior of mine that asked me if I stan ateez and I said yes . She said "me too , I only started stanning the group because of SAN" and I was like girl damn I think you've never heard of a word called TALENT. Well ik most companies put atleast one or two HANDSOME or PRETTY idols just attract the audience to stan THEIR GROUP ...but the idols literally sweat blood and tears for them to achieve and debut but you just stanning them for their looks is not valid for me tho

When has k-pop not been about visuals lol it will always be a outer appearance focused industry, it's obvious that the visual of the grp is often the most popular one. I've been an k-pop stan for some time and lemme tell you, majority of idols are shit at singing, especially the newer grps rn. They recieve 4 classes for vocal training and companies think it's fine lmao, k-pop is becoming more and more about visuals and choreos, many grps have such intricate and complex choreography which looks cool in mvs but in stage performances it just feels like a bunch of monkeys hopping around, and NO ONE SINGS LIVE I'm not even blaming the idols here, clearly the companies are lacking and trying to put on a more picture perfect image. Also the fact that majority of k-pop music is....kinda mid don't come for me lmao just my opinion, at the end of the day the truth is that most fans are usually just fans for the idol's looks or persona and wtv
Yuh uh man I agree w you . Tbh k-pop tryna convert intself into just like that of pop culture and nothing else. Releasing and filming fan service videos rather than making an actual album is just a way of attracting foreign audience cause "they've never seen this before" and what not （￣へ￣）.
i mean the visuals/looks are probably a first impression leading to stanning the group as a whole but if you solely stan them and only praise their face, not their talents it kinda rubs me the wrong way tbh
