Therapy definitely works. It’s more about processing and developing better ways to cope. Keep in mind that for therapy to work you have to be open to it. Also, not every therapist is good at their job. The same way some restaurants served low quality food, you can receive an inadequate therapist. Sometimes the therapist just isn’t a fit for ......   reply

Therapy, good therapy, is not merely “paying someone to talk go”. There are many forms of therapy, conversation is only the mode of interaction. There is a lot more that goes on. That stranger you think you’re “paying to talk to” becomes someone who will create a space for you that you’ve never found before where you work cooperatively ......   reply

There's more types of therapy than just talking with someone about your problems. I've done regular talk therapy, cbt, dbt, emdr, exposure therapy, and probably some other types I can't remember. Therapy will only work if you want help. If you want to stay miserable theres nothing anyone can do for you. The change starts with your willingness to tr......   reply

I'm going to start of sounding a little harsh but please bear with me.... You don't want to do anything to get better. You don't want to talk about it or do ANY work at all. You just want to it to fix itself, because you believe everything will be fine then... Which is why even though "people always say go see a therapist" you have decided that wo......   reply

did you know you can get addicted to your own pain? to the anger that fuels it, to the suffering that feels familiar? holding onto it too tightly becomes like a second skin, and even when you want to fight it, it shapes you into something you never intended to be. you say it’s your circumstances that make you miserable, but the truth is, sometime......   1 reply

not like pitying yourself is going to make anything better lmao. is there a way you can change the situation you're in? therapy can make you more capable of handling whatever difficulties you'll face along the way by teaching you how to manage stress, anxiety, lack of motivation etc. so in case of failure you can bounce back faster. if you have no ......   reply

Therapists are needed when someone needs to be 'guided through a conversation' in my opinion. Other than that, you as a person should be able to process your own thoughts / situation you are in, and figure out a way to proceed that'll make things right. As for what you said, it does not matter whether you caused things to go haywire or not. You ar......   reply

I'll say this as someone who went through different stages, to begin with I currently have no time to see a therapist. I wish to, but I will continue to be resistant to the idea as other things take priority, and I hate to think that I am inadequate in some way. (Not to mention I also believe that therapists are professional listeners, whose time i......   reply

I can't personally praise therapy because it wasn't my thing; I tried once and got too suspicious of them, then tried again but it was 30min teletherapy and did NOT have the time/intimacy for relationship building (also I don't like people telling me what to do uwu). But I'm not in a bad situation, I'm just specifically a bad person, so that's not ......   reply

Others have already said everything. Don't take it like they are telling you you are wrong though ok? You think you are blaming everything but yourself but if you go down the therapy route, you are going to find out that actually you blame yourself for everything, including for being alive. So I wish you'd start by not making yourself wrong at leas......   1 reply
