why are gls not produced as much as bls?
I mostly read BLs but occasionally I read GLs too, and one thing I've noticed is that there isn't enough GLs produced in comparison to BLs, specifically content variety and quality wise.
There is such a wide variety of BLs when you think about it, if I had to name a few it'd be guideverse, horror, online gaming friends, mafia, traumatizing, older men, priest yaoi, transmigration, angels and demons etc etc the list goes on and I think there's something for everyone's interest but when it comes to GLs, i found that there are extremely less stories that fit in any of these categories.
Why is that so?
Some might say you need a lotta creativity to come up with the story and stuff, no, there's such a lack of GL content that even adapted BL plots can be seen as groundbreaking, just because they're exploring new territory.
There's such a big sea of opportunities but creators aren't taking advantage of it. I seriously can't understand why is that so. ┐(´ー`)┌
Because its not popular as BLs... like that one GL even got compared to jinx and they still shipped the women with men despite being lesbians. I dunno tbh why isn't popular but probs cause majority of readers for romances are straight women. So they probs feel weird reading lesbians cus they can't self insert or something. Plus they cannot make it ......

short answer, we live in a patriarchal society, which favours male perspective and experience over anything related to women.
considering the fact that gls don't involve men primarily, publishers end up dropping gls, despite how popular they get. and if you're a creator you'd probably wanna make something which appeals to the publishers, hence the ......

All the answers everyone else has already said PLUS the fact that it's just fun watching a hot guy get his cheeks clapped disrespectfully by another hot guy.

This is why if I’m ever gonna make a story, the mc is gonna be a lesbian and there’s gonna be a beautiful explosion of lesbianism and we’re all gonna lesbanism. Winners love winning!!

I mean, personally, I just feel like society has made it to where if you're a girl that's really close to another girl, you're just 'best friends'. But also, historically it's just always been like that. men lay with each other as a way to vent their desires. It's also fetish too, for some. its weird...

My theory is that men have a few things females don’t that make them easier to put into certain sexual contexts. I think the main one is the fact that men have external genitalia (penises,) explicit points that bring pleasure during penetration (prostate,) and very well-defined orgasm (ejaculation, Which women do too but yk.)
It’s like the anat......

It’s less popular ig. Girls are more likely to be into romance and most girls are attracted to guys so reading a story about two guys may be more interesting. Personally I don’t have anything against GL but I’m just not as interested in it. I went to Japan and one of the big animate stores in ikebukuro had a floor dedicated to BL. I don’t e......

So true, which is why I don’t exactly hate bad thinking diaries author, is her choice of using toxic tropes problematic? Yes, but it’s also allowing other manwha artists and story writers to realize that they can make fun, lesbian stories that do not necessarily jst have to b pure honey sweet but also toxic stories too, my problem w most gl is ......

I think it's a shame that there aren't more too. When I was in my gl phase, I remember there being less than 10 pages of results. You either got cutesy school life shoujo ai or tragic lesbian porn. It seems like things are slowly expanding though and I hope the genre keeps growing. I need more supernatural/fantasy gl.

In my opinion, because people love men, they are more interested in exploring and touching dynamics between men more than women; I know people will act like it's not the case but most people here call themselves lesbians, bi, pan but 99% when you will ask them about the character that they like they will choose a man doesn't matter if it's sexual o......
