I need help on how to explain to my step dad that what he does is wrong

So since my parents have to stay home more often because of covid I see my step dad more often and I’m realizing a lot of wrong things that he does that really makes me uncomfortable. He makes jokes on very sensitive topics and thinks that it’s funny and ok to say, and is also very hypocritical about how people should act (men vs women) and it all just makes me angry every time he’s around. I dont know if it is my place to speak up or not....does anyone have any advise?

Tell him. Tell him that you disagree, and to keep his sexist jokes to himself. Speaking your own opinion may not change his, but it might make him more aware of what he says & does in the future. It’s your right to be able to feel safe & at ease in your own home, and if he’s intruding on that right, he needs to stop. 2 reply

Next time he does something that is wrong, u could tell him that what he's doing is wrong and then give him the list one by one for a good hit. If I was u, I would've waited till my mom is in the room so she can listen too. :3 2 reply

I’m actually a mom myself and I can tell you from personal experience with other parents that they often don’t like being told shit by their children. They believe they know more. You should try telling him what you think what he's doing is wrong, but then again, if he doesn't change, try to interact with him as less as possible. Because in your case, I'm not sure if he's an obedient listener, he might even throw hands on you. I'm just worried about you man (;´∩`;). If I were you, I would be roundabout it. I would make up some statement or take one from the internet, something similar to the subject your dads talking about, then, I will say how much I hate it and how bad it is. So now if you do that, your dad will not feel attacked because your talking about something else, but will feel bad or maybe understan...... reply

I think firstly you should talk to your mom. Depending on the topics he is making light of , he seems to be a questionable character. If not then that's good ~ Talk to your mom and have her sit with you while you explain to your step father what is making you uncomfortable. Ask him to please at least respect you as an individual as to not speak of ...... reply
