JayVik fanfic pt.2

the time morning came, the lab looked like a tornado blew through it and the duo themselves did not look any better.

Viktor was leaning back in his chair, eyes red, and stifling a yawn while Jayce was slumped over the desk, fast asleep with a few papers stuck to his face.

Viktor decided it would be better to let Jayce sleep. He knew Jayce was already loaded with work to do as a councilor, and rest was a priority for him.

Jayce slept throughout most of morning, only waking up with a jolt when Viktor started to nudge him to get his attention.

“Hey…wake up.” He said in a quiet voice.

Jayce let out a groan and sat up straight, blinking the sleep from his eyes. “What time is it?” He mumbled, his voice rough with sleep.

“You really are tired, eh?”

He chuckled at the sight of Jayce’s groggy expression. It was an amusing sight to say the least.

“You should be more disciplined with your sleep.” He said in a teasing tone.

“Yeah yeah whatever” Jayce said with a chuckle.

Jayce started gathering his things and his coat.

“Hey Viktor,” said Jayce. Viktor looked at him in the eyes, “yes?” Viktor said.

Jayce smirked “we got double the amount of work done last night with me helping. Take this day off to rest.”

“Absolutely not.” He immediately responded.

His face hardened at Jayce’s suggestion. Taking time off to rest was out of the question.

He was not going to waste a day he could be using to advance his work by doing something as useless as sitting in bed.

“Aw come on” Jayce said teasingly.

“I didn’t clear my schedule today for nothing, at least spend some time with me. We can just hang out and chat. A break could do you good. Clear your mind. Freshen your body” Jayce said pointing at Viktors obviously exhausted face.

Viktor sighed. “Alright fine” said Viktor. “But only for today, this is the first and LAST break I will be taking.” He grumbled, mad at himself for giving in.

Jayce smile and pumped his fist. “YES!”

He could already feel a headache coming on just by agreeing to it.

“…You don’t have to be so happy about it.”

Viktor leaned back in his chair with a deep sigh. Jaybe spending the day just hanging out with Jayce wouldn’t be so bad just this once.

Jayce walks by Viktor, leading him on to where he wants to go.

“So I originally wanted to spend the day going out with you, but then realized that you seem to be in no condition to spend the entire day walking outside so…”

Jayce stops walking, seeming to finally reach his destination.

“… This is your room” says Viktor.

“Yeah it’s my room, but look,” Jayce opens the door, “Tadah! Look, it’s all our old inventions and creations! I figured we’d spend one day reminiscing on the past, and just having fun!”

Jayce had the widest smug grin on his face, seeming very proud of himself.

Viktors eyes widened slightly, pupils dilating, as he spotted all the old inventions and models lining the walls.

It had been a while since he last saw all of his earlier experiments. And he definitely knew it would be nice to unwind and look through their creations.

He felt a small smile slowly form on his lips.

“You did all this?” He asked, looking over at Jayce with a hint of amusement. “I never knew you were such a sentimental softie.”

Jayce chuckles.

“We’ve been so cooped up in our own work trying to better the lives of the people for the future, I think it would be nice to just not have to think about that for a while, and just be proud of what we have done.”

Viktor smiled in agreement and walked into the room, taking in all of the old memories and trinkets that he hadn’t seen in ages.

“…You’re right.” He said with a small smile. “We don’t have many chances to let ourselves reflect.”

As his eyes scanned over the room, a memory from many years ago popped into his mind and his smile turned more into a smirk.

“I do have to thank you for reminding me of a rather… interesting experiment that I had done in the past.”

“Well we were still learning…” Jayce laughs. “Not everything turned out how we wanted, did it?” he grins.

Viktor chuckled in agreement, as he came across an old invention from many years ago.

He didn’t recall the exact purpose of what it was supposed to do, but he definitely knows that it had a particularly amusing result.

He held the little gadget between his fingers, looking over at Jayce with a smirk.

“I believe you were with me when I tried out this particular design.”

He paused, letting the smirk turn into a grin.

Remember what it did, hm?”

“Oh yeah I compliantly remember! We wanted to make food take less time to cook, so we made this thing! You’d place it in with your food when heating it up, and it was supposed to cook it the exact way you wanted it… but unless you wanted your food burnt to a crisp, this is useless.” Jayce smirks and looks and Viktor (I’m just making this up, I have no idea what inventions they made)

That drew another laugh out of him. He could recall what had happened when they tested this device to perfection. It was definitely not a pleasant sight.

“Yes. It was very ineffective.”

He put the useless gadget down and picked something off the shelf. This time it seemed more like a bracelet.

“…And what’s this little invention? I don’t recall making something like this.”

Viktor held out the strange device, raising a brow at Jayce.

Jayce quickly snatched the bracelet like device away. “It’s nothing…” Jayce silently cursed himself for accidentally putting it out with the other trinkets.

Viktors brows raised slightly in surprise at Jayce’s quick grabbing of the trinket. Something felt oddly suspicious about what the item could be, seeing as Jayce’s reaction to it.

He tilted his head and gave his friend a curious look.

“It looks like it’s something.”

He walked closer to Jayce, reaching out to take it.

“You sure it’s not anything of importance? Let me just take a closer look-“

“NO!- it’s… it’s really nothing V. Trust me, it wouldn’t interest you in any way” said Jayce with a slightly flushed face

“And yet, you’re getting so defensive over it...”

This definitely felt suspicious. Why would a random device get Jayce so flushed?

He continued to reach for the ‘bracelet’ with a sly smirk on his face, amused over how much Jayce didn’t want him looking at it.

“Come on. Just let me see it.”

Jayces back was pressed up against the edge of the table. On hand on the table, and one hand trying to keep the bracket out of Viktors reach.

Viktor, by now reaching out for the braclet, was fully pressed up against Jayce. Their faces where close to touching, and Jayce could feel his face getting redder…

he decided he couldn’t take it anymore. “Fine Viktor, you win. I’ll tell you what it is, but please, could you get off of me?”

The slight change of Jayce’s demeanor only made Viktors expression even more smug. It was definitely a fun sight to see him get so flustered.

He gave up his attempts on getting the bracelet and just simply leaned against Jayce. He was a bit shorter, but having the Jayce in between him and the table was an added advantage.

He smirked and looked Jayce right in the eyes.

“I don’t know…” He said in a low tone. “I’m quite comfortable like this.”

Jayce was clearly getting uncomfortable. He tried to look away from Viktor to avoid showing how embarrassed he was.

“Please V, just get off of me, I promise to tell you what the bracelet does!” he pleaded

despite enjoying himself in having the upper hand, Viktor decides to give Jayce a break and gets off of him.

Jayce lets out a sigh of relief. “Thank you V, I really appreciate it” Viktor scoffs, “now, are you going to tell me what this thing does or not?”

His smile still hasn’t left his face yet. He crossed his arms, waiting for Jayce to begin his explanation.

“I’m all ears” he said
