Are Asian parents just tsunderes?
The stereotype (or rather, a good chunk) of Asian parents appear to have a hard time being open about their affection for their kids. Like there's even a saying in Chinese "To hit is to show affection, to scold is to show love".
Like "I love you" being said by parents of an older generation is very very rare, and if you have those parents then... well, great.
Strangely, I saw a Thai Ad about a mom with a bad attitude to her kid, but the "truth" was that she indeed loves her child, just have a really sucky way of expressing it. By well, scolding and berating her child whenever her child does something wrong which escalates occasionally. The plot twist? Of course, the mom has to get an incurable disease and show how much she had saved up for her kid's future, then show the kid crying and saying "I'm sorry" and "I love you too mom" (It's an insurance ad)
This is kind of an Asian trope.
Then I just read a Chinese comic strip showing how whenever a child is in pain like coming home after getting rained on, or having a minor cut, he parents would be dismissive and even scold the child. But the end would always be that they would show concern (or berate the child for not asking for help) by being aggressive, of course by then the child doesn't have any trust or feel concerned by their parents.
Then the stereotype in India is you have o be a doctor, engineer, lawyer why? Because of the parent's love for the child to have a better future.
... Are stereotypical Asian parents just tsunderes?
I think ' tsundere Asian parents' still applied but it is very rare in nowaday generation. My mum would to scold me whenever i do something wrong but rarely praise me when I got some achievement. And it is because to make the children not spoiled. But my mum used to tell me that back in her days if the teacher canned her at school, she would not d......

Probably. But not my mom tho. I had to go to my parents' room sometimes to use my phone because she likes sleeping in mine. Also. One time, i went to sleep, very sure i was alone on my bed. Time skip the next morning, my mom was beside me, sleeping peacefully. I was shocked lol.

Not all, but my mom is. My siblings and I gave her a bouquet of flowers and a cake last mother's day. She said, why the heck did we have to buy stuff for such a trivial celebration ans it was just a waste of money. She was mad. But later that day, us siblings saw her fb post of being thankful and also the pics of the cake and bouquet. US SIBLINGS W......
