It really depends on when and where you're planning on going. For me, studying abroad was actually cheaper than studying in my hometown, and while I had a serious case of the shut in syndrome for a bit, I made new friends (better ones in some cases), and those who really cared stayed in touch no matter what. Yes it so worth the trouble and even though it's difficult and frustrating to adapt to a new culture and maybe learn a new language, it's an experience like no other. Also I don't know which country you come from or where you plan to go and whether or not you have a family that can get you out of the occasional tough situation, I don't have one and......   reply

Like other people said it depends on where you are going, I am studying abroad and loneliness still hit me at the most random times, I still have no friends after so many years (chuck that to my personality) but it's a great experience. I went to university in foreign country and also went as an exchange student to another foreign country and it was great both times so I definitely recommend to go abroad.   1 reply

Well, study abroad programs are usually only a semester long, so getting out of your country is the main reason you want to do it, then that's not really gonna solve your problems. I agree that studying abroad can be cheaper. I did a BA in Italy at an American university...and it was cheaper. If I had attended an Italian university, it would have been even cheaper! :)   1 reply

Why do you want to study abroad? Why are the universities in another country better? It usually requires a ton of money so you should really think about your finances.
