slow burn is not slow burning
imo a slow burn is for ex. a story has around 100 chapters and the leads don't get together for at least half the story or after. a lot of these "slow burns" are speed runs they be getting together within 10 chapters with little to no build up whatsoever i can tolerate it if they're already friends but if they're enemies and/or strangers absolutely not it makes 0 sense
and since i bought up the topic of enemies to lovers this trope is straight up ass and overhyped it can be good when done right but the majority of the time is isn't. it's usually grape/abuse/stockholm syndrome to lovers lbh bc apparently the only way to write 2 characters who hate each other is if there's grape or abuse involved
I’ve been saying ong I’ve been avoiding enemies to lovers like the plague
