Tell me an anecdote you’ve experienced while being a fan of manga/wha/hua
Ok, so we all know that in the past few years, Korean webcomics have become front and center (at least on this website), but it hasn’t always been so.
I’ve never placed much importance in what I read as long as I liked the story and the art, but mostly I read manga.
In terms of spellings and pronunciations, Japanese names are fairly straightforward and I was very used to them, then for a while there I was reading some Chinese web novels and comics and had to look up proper pronounciations.
This finally brings me to the story I want to tell.
Back whenever Jazz for Two was popular I was reading it and not paying much attention to the characters name or proper pronounciations.
Heck, honestly I didn’t even remember what their names were.
In 2022 I stumbled upon Passion and was having a hard time wrapping my head around MCs name cus of how Tappytoon’s romanization. ( I was having a similar problem with Eunsung’s name from Guiding hazard. My brain couldn’t wrap itself around how “e-u” sounds).
Anyway, anyone who’s read Passion knows MC’s name is “Tae-eui” (from Tappytoon’s romanization).
I stumbled on Jazz for two again, read the sypnosis, saw MCs name and realized it was the same name.
I felt dumb.
What’s your funny anecdotes?

I remember a few years ago I came across "Down and dirty", at that time I was picky as hell about art when it came to bls so my first thought after looking at its cover was "who the fuck would read a story with weird ass art, does the author not know people like pretty art? what a waste of efforts" like i remember this thought cause my feelings of hatred were so strong towards the cover for some reason lmaoo.
a few months ago i read yona and changil and decided to check out author's other stuff and found down and dirty there and decided to give it a go....i ended up loving it so much that I had literal ss of the dirty talk in it cause of how good it was and also i ended up lovingg the art a lot.
yeah made me wanna slap my past self for judging a book by it's cover
Something similar happened to me way back in the mid-2000’s with Seven Days.
I kept seeing this cover, but at the same time I kept ignoring it until one day I gave in and it’s very mild, but I really like the story.
So one day I stumbled across this one BL called “the foul” and I was like omg this shit so good after I read it.
Few days later while I was on my BL hunt I found “cloudburst” and I was like omg this shit pretty good.
Later I read “ the melanchoic conman” and I was like ong this sh pretty good.
Much later I read a bit of this one BL called “hyanghyeon text” and I was like yk what, looks interesting, I’ll read it later.
Sometime passed I found another BL I really enjoyed titled “memories of your breath” and I was like omg why this sh so good.
All of these BL’s were apparently from the same exact author, different artists. And I was like :O, and read more BLs written by them and enjoyed all of them ( ̄∇ ̄")
