what’s all the fuss about solo leveling?
so, what's the big deal with solo leveling? honestly, i'm kinda confused about the hype. i read it when the manhwa was releasing, and yeah, it had some enjoyable moments.
the double dungeon setup was super slick, probably the best part of the whole series for me. and yeah, i’ll admit the shadow monarch was kinda cool, and beru was top-tier. we respect beru in this house.
but everything else? felt pretty flat. every new villain shows up, talks big, underestimates the mc, and bam, he crushes them without even trying. rinse and repeat. it’s like the story went on autopilot after a while. the characters felt half baked, like they were just there to prop up the mc instead of being developed in their own right
and the mc? man is so stoic he walks around like he is emotionally constipated. no development, no depth just a blank slate of OP-ness. shounen fans have always had a thing for mediocre stuff, but come on. i expected a bit more than endless curb stomps and empty stares.
it’s not terrible by any means, but calling it top-tier storytelling? what am i missing here? i cant be the only one
TL;DR: solo leveling starts strong, but it’s pretty rinse and repeat after that: new villain talks big, underestimates mc, gets steamrolled. the characters feel flat, and the mc’s constant blank slate attitude gets old. not really top-tier storytelling imo
p.s: the statue design of the Double Dungeon boss/king tho.. damnnnnn, that would be my hear me out now!! man is glorious
