LASAGNA
Ingredients:
For the sauce: 1 lb ground beef, 1 onion, 2 garlic cloves, 28 oz crushed tomatoes, 6 oz tomato paste, 1 cup tomato sauce, 1 tsp each basil and oregano, salt, pepper, 1/2 tsp sugar, 1/4 cup red wine (optional).
For the cheese mix: 16 oz ricotta, 1 egg, 2 cups mozzarella, 1/2 cup Parmesan, parsley (optional).
Others: 12 lasagna noodles, extra mozzarella and Parmesan for topping.
Instructions:
Make the sauce: Brown beef with onion and garlic. Add tomatoes, tomato paste, tomato sauce, spices, wine, and simmer for 30 minutes.
Prepare the cheese mix: Mix ricotta, egg, 1 1/2 cups mozzarella, Parmesan, and parsley.
Cook noodles: Cook regular noodles or use no-boil noodles.
Assemble: Layer sauce, noodles, ricotta mix, and mozzarella in a greased 9x13 pan, repeating layers. Top with sauce and remaining mozzarella.
Bake: Cover with foil, bake at 375°F for 25 minutes. Remove foil and bake for another 25-30 minutes until bubbly. Let rest for 10 minutes before serving.
