This shit got pt2?! Yea. I made a post about questioning whether bl are for queers in. I was expecting 3 answers max was surprised to see so many! Let's see if this underperforms or what
Before you hop in the link lemme clarify few things I failed in pt1
1) no not all BLs are porn, mb my wording was wrong
2) no, women who read or make bl are NOT fetishizers there are SOME cases and those SOME cases is what I was referring to.
3) my main question was, (yes a question, ik I talked a lot of negative aspects of bl and misrepresentation but that was my opinion on why I DON'T think it's a representation of/for queers. However I meant it more of a question of "is bl for queers?" and "does it represent you?")
4) MOST IMPORTANTLY!!!! dub-con and non-con is a PRESSING issue in bl, don't FWOP FWOP when uke says "NO!" When did consent turn optional choice for semes?!
5) bl (not all but MOST) does have projection of some level of heterosexuality on homosexuals or the bl characters, (if it's not written by a queer author themselves)
Link:
https://www.mangago.me/thing/about/769048/#comments_areaI feel like I got a lotttt of great answers from so many people and it really broadened my view on whether bl is actually for queer, spoiler alert some agree some say nah, but I loved Elle's top response, the most effective as she says in tldr; "TLDR: there's more than one to be queer. BL/yaoi is just one kind of LGBT media and it deserves its seat at the table." Like wooo woman can write!
But this also got me asking other questions raised by other people like how "heterosexual women may be using bl as a form of expression from themselves being misrepresented such as in porn and hetero manhwa/mangas etc" and the counter argument made by people like Grogg "They aren’t writing queer romance, they are writing a masked straight romance, to protect themselves. So meanwhile they see their representation and feel satisfied in the projection, queer people can be lost. Their ‘representation’ isn’t for them, about them, or made by them.
But it’s also unfair because women aren’t getting to represent themselves fully either."
Why the fuck are y'all so good at responding?!
Also many brought up the culture aspect in as well and your right, it's differing depending where you are, I know that as an Asian gay man myself homosexuality and the taboo surrounding it may give more heterosexual narrative,
"who's the woman?
" "Nana.. how scandalous! Asking your grandson about who gets pegged?!
" (Lol classic, one of the most common question I get asked by sweet grannies) is it as bl represents it? Eh.. not really? But hey experience differs and so does the narration on fictional world with fictional characters. A good point to have.
But anyways that was my experience, everyone has a differing opinion. What do you think? Is bl for queer? Does it represent you? Or is it some weird form of masked heterosexual projection on same-sex relationship? Or maybe it's all?
Ps: I went insane in pt1 responding to all like a mad man i don't think I'll do that here.. or maybe I will :)
PLEASE MAKE SURE TO BE RESPECTFUL, this is a discussion so don't sour relationship with randos online over bl, thats way too sad. I appreciate what you put forward you have just try not to be rude

1) I thought yaoi was the fwop fwop and BL just meant men loving men, like yaoi was the 15-18+ version of BL 2) other women I know into BL and yaoi love that the art for all the dudes is waaay more focused for people INTO dudes... not the het male eye, if that makes sense (tbf, I'm pan but BL and yaoi always has men far hotter than anything I see in het stuff) 3) you talk as much as me and damn I appreciate you babe and 4) thank you for making me NOT think of the election for a solid 180 seconds.
Pleaseeee the election! Whyyyy now that's true horror ( ̄へ ̄) thanks for responding! Baby I loveeee talking and honestly yea, gay men are hotter than het men, bl got that one thing right alr
