I know for a fact that some artists and authors work together, like I think BSD ended up doing it as it's a collaboration on part of kafka asagiri and sango harukawa.
Like, when I say collaboration I mean asagiri doesn't have a novel, he directly discusses the manga contents with harukawa, but he does do like outside work.
