is being late to social events a normal manner?

My parents have this very weird mindset that if you arrive too early at a party, it means you're desperate and cheap, so they would deliberately arrive late, even to weddings lmao. As a kid, I wasn't even allowed to go to a friend's bday party early, when all of my other friends would arrive like 2 hrs prior to help with the decor, really hate this......   reply

it depends where you live. like if you live in idk China, you better be there at least a week earlier. if you live in Canada, next year sounds like a good date. if you aren't sure just ask whoever is hosting it. also if it's for something like an interview or something 'important' as in important, not some party you really want to go to... be o......   reply

I arrive early and see if anybody else is arriving there at a similar time. If not I’m staying the car until i see some people going there and then I go   reply

it PISSES ME OFF when people are late. if we're supposed to meet at 12.00 im there by 11.45. im literally incapable of doing anything else when i have something coming up how are you a WHOLE HOUR late?? manage your time responsibly like a proper adult maybe??? kys. sorry   2 reply

personally, I think you shouldnt be late on formal event like test, job interview etc, for meets up with friend like going vacation somewhere themepark/restaurant 10 to 15 minutes lateness is understandable but over that, you waste people time & money. if your only hangout at someone's house I don't mind you're late or bail & not showing up at all.......   reply

I saw an interview of a professional giving etiquette advice about not arriving on the dot that way it can "give the host more time to prepare(?)" The latest you should arrive is 5 minutes after the specified time given. I guess it can be confusing considering if you have a doctors appointment, you should arrive 5 minutes before, but when it comes ......   reply
