Bl plots

Does anyone else feel like a lot of the bls (especially manhwas) held up as having a "good plot" really just default to generic tropes from their genres? Like a certain zombie story having zones and a brilliant scientist uncovering a conspiracy, a certain psychological having a main character whose main motivation is an evil step mother, that sort of thing?

i feel the same with some plot twists tbh, sure sometimes writers can surprise u but u cant sit here and tell me that you really didnt expect the "nice" character which has been giving the stinkiest side eyes and looks like the dictionary definition of an asshole to be a bad person cmon now 1 reply
