It can. But unfortunately, it also develops a new problem which are 'misrepresentation' and 'over representation'. We can already see the effects these issues have nowadays with the crazy fans in each fandom nitpicking every single interaction of same sex characters and labelling them as gay. Im agreeing with u but im disagreeing at the same time. Like yes, its a good thing that gay stuffs are being normalized, but the majorities of bl stories involved rapes, assault, mental abuse, verbal abuse, physical abuse, and many more. I think it will lead to the representation of gays yeah but I wouldn't say lgbtq+ entirely cause bl is abt men but even so not everyone has the same life experiences nd not everyone would relate to this and that so I wouldn't expect 100% accuracy of representation but I think it's a start if the one's producing the content has the right/good intent......   1 reply

I do, and there are already research papers studying this topic. Though, the current trendy BL stories are quite extreme and concerning, not to mention most of these disturbing stories are written by women, not actual member of the LGBTQ+ community.
