Y'all gotta understand that no Childe is not a manwhore who goes around sleeping with people for information. Childe does have feelings, while his eyes don't shine that doesn't mean he doesn't care about Teucer and the rest of his family. I'm not sure how it is in the anime but in the manga Lao has a very understable reason as to why he tried to murder Ash.
I'm sure that like 90% of banana fish fans didn't bother to read/watch it properly.
