Thoughts on fandom culture
Sorry might yap a little but idk who else I’d talk abt this with.. So I’m just kinda curious are y'all actively involved in fandoms you enjoy and I don’t mean buying merch and creating content and stuff I’m talking about whether you like engaging with online discourse on certain controversies in fandoms and interacting with other fans..? And what kind of moments made you hate being in a fandom because of how other people acted in it?
Me personally I try to avoid them because it kind of ruins the fun for me like when I’m in fandom spaces I’m there to consume content and to have fun with other fans not to fight over things all the time if yk what I mean..and I genuinely don’t think anything is serious enough for people to send death threats and putting sm time and energy on hating etc over having differing opinions (I’m not even talking abt problematic stuff like proships just abt literally normal opinions and valid criticisms
) and driving people out of fandoms… Ig what I’m trying to say is that it’s pretty exhausting seeing this happen all the time when you just wanna have fun. Heavy on cringe culture btw it makes some fandoms so unbearable to be in when all people can do is attack others for trying to have fun with their silly ships and headcanons and so on.
Tldr: fandom culture’s so toxic why can’t we just enjoy things
(I fear I’m j not built to be able to handle the internet guys) (and did this whole thought process start because I j started using twitter? Maybe!!)
Fandom culture is so dead rn cause it seems everyone is annoyed with every engaging activity a fandom does, everyone gets absolutely brainwashed once a person calls something embarrassing or chronically online, it's like having that one parent behind u always yelling at you for having fun when you're just trying to be childish in peace( while being......

There's always gonna shitty people anywhere you go. And the bigger a fandom is, the more likely you are to run into someone that sucks. But being active in fandoms doesn't mean you need to engage in discourse though? Just block those people and focus on enjoying the stuff you enjoy. You're right, nothing is serious enough to send death threats over......

I actually like how chaotic it is tbh. I don't mind most things people say on the internet as it just bounces right off my shield of absolute shamelessness.
The biggest issue with most fandoms is that as you said they take things too seriously. Another way I like to say this is that they have no life.
Also ever since the covid anime babies starte......

honstly most of the fandoms that I was in the fights were about ships like Owari no Seraph with YuuNoa vs MikaYuu and Danganronpa with KomaHina vs Hinanami
