I usually only use those terms when refering to yaoi manga (smutty) as it is standard of the genre that one of the 2 is designated as "seme" or "uke". Don't get mad at the people who use the terms when the genre they read demands for it. bruh when you read a ton of stories at the same time you don't always remember the names. its easier sometimes to just refer to them as seme/uke. also just because a person is a bottom doesn't mean that they are the 'woman'. as long as people don't use it for people in real life, I don't see a problem with it.   reply

Genuine question tho coz how is that different from referring to characters as bottom and top. Coz it literally means that. When I go to the 'looking for/rec list' I say uke and seme just to help in describing a story I'm trying to find. That is no way fetishizing a man as the woman in a relationship.
