The heat is THEIR period lol, just take ur cat for example you don't see her like randomly dropping blood right? Cause they have heat instead. I'm not an animal expert I just compared the two and got my answer. Nothing makes sense in an omegaverse it's just sex with plot so don't think abt it too deeply.
