My All Time Favorite Manga and Webtoons

Ophiuchus Ophiuchus 2024-09-11 11:53:17 About show me your favorite manga
long post ahead (might contain some spoilers)

1. LA Corda d'Oro

If I really have to pick one I think it's La Corda d'Oro. I was so tiny like an insect when I started playing musical instruments, like a little ant, perhaps, and this anime left a profound impact on me. I started to view music differently and learned to love and embrace it more honestly instead of hating the scary teachers at the conservatory. Anyway, it's a good anime.

Notes:

Lili, the music fairy is so adorable! Children's stories are laced with truth. The seasoned musicians/our teachers told us to choose our humanity when it's time to choose.

Hino Kahoko, the girl who magically gained the ability to play music.

2. Nodame Cantabile

The same with Nodame Cantabile. La Corda d'Oro and Nodame Cantabile made me accept what I am and what the people around me are able to do, what their limits are, and their willingness to dedicate their childhood, youth, even to their senior years, to music.

It's like breathing, when you sleep you don't stop breathing, when stop playing for months and years, you don't stop being what you are. I was an impressionable kid, getting won over by some random anime.

SOME OF MY ALL TIME FAV ACTION MANGA (my all time fav comics are more to action, action fi genre. I tend to follow anything from these mangaka):

AoT

Naruto

Bleach

I'm planning to rewatch after finishing Naruto and Boruto. I love that the mangaka included Yasutora Sado as a triracial character. I think it's encouraging to see this being acknowledged in the media that the diasporas are everywhere. It's a little warmhearted section when I see him in the anime/manga, like a little nod to the bunch of mixed kids with strong identities

Tokyo Ghoul

(gonna rewatch after I stop being crazy about AOT)

Ajin: Demi-Human

(whenever I feel like I need to remind myself to stay composed, I look at the MC and feel better because he's secretly a very warm person)

One Punch Man

Dorohedoro

Gintama

FMA

SAO

Jujutsu Kaisen

It's going to end soon (I'm kinda sad)

DSKNY

While some of my friends think this series is bad, I don't feel the same. It's a good series imo. They think the ending sucks. They wanted something like AOT lmao to make it more memorable. I don't wanna risk giving out spoilers.

Wind Breaker (Satoru Nii)

(currently rewatching on crunchyroll)

Black Clover (my pandemic era fav)

Fairy Tail (pandemic era fav)

Edens Zero

Dr.STONE

Kaiju No. 8 (current fav)

I have many more, but to make the post shorter, I'll stop dropping more titles from my fav action manga.

WEBTOONS

My all time fav webtoon so far is Get Schooled @ True Education.

To cut it short, I appreciate the creators and this webtoon. About ep 125, I rarely see Eurasian characters in the media dealing with racism that's very accurately portrayed, almost true to life (except for the fact that Daniel Hyun character can't get green eyes if his mom is a full Asian IRL. The basic here is: 1 Eurasian parent + European parent. Or. 2 Eurasian parents. They must carry the green eye genes in their DNA).

Regardless of what you personally think about the series, I think this series will always hold a special place in my heart. I find this narrative refreshing to read because it depicts the racism and bullying that Eurasian and Asian children face in a few scorching scenes, which is virtually acceptable by certain adults (It wasn't sufficiently fleshed out for some reason, maybe due to the murmurs of keyboard warriors online who didn't give the creators time to figure what direction they could take for that particular story and demanding WEBTOON to cut the livelihoods of these creators lol like who are you again..? Is racism exclusive to your race??? There are real people outside of your own race who have experienced real racism, discrimination, xenophobia, and bullying and can relate to the story, ep 125. Why so myopic??? Other races exist too).

With that said, it's too bad the naughty racist little shits who used slurs and bullying didn't get their asses whooped by Daddy HwaJin, Mommy HanRim or Mommy SeRa from the TRPA's members, I think Zaddy Daniel is nicer after taking the extreme route in self defense, but I wanna see more of his whooping naughty ass moments in the future. He still applies the same have a taste of your own meds, brats, but I think this was very tame compared to the other extreme measures they've done in the other episodes.

Other than that, the series is one the best webtoons I've read IMO.

Other fav webtoons:

Freaking romance

I feel like it's heavily inspired by Angel Beats, an isekai series, timeless and boundless love with an interesting ending. This is an OEL webtoon. This was probably one of my first webtoon (official English version) that I randomly read during the semi to full lockdown phases.

Noblesse

It reinforced what was taught to me. Be cool, plan your revenge and always have the last laugh HAHHHAHAHA (I missed being around people when I read this during the lockdown)

Can't believe I know most of the series mentioned on this post I've watched them on Netflix or Crunchyroll. Have you watched angel beats? My siblings who are older said this is a heartwarming anime. I've never heard the first one! Thanks for the recommending this series! I'll give it a read.

I've never watched Angel Beats, but yeah same here. My older siblings, their friends and our cousins have watched it several times. I know some of the details from their conversations (spoilers everywhere by mostly male fans of the series lol) yeah we talked about Freaking Romance and they said the creator copied Angel Beats without giving credits. I'm not sure to what extent, but it's probably true and they're always right (⌒▽⌒)

La Corda is inspirational imo I'm not sure how others see the series lol happy reading

it's insane how long ago some of these titles on your list were, la corda's anime was one of the first reverse harems I watched and honestly, might be the reason why I'm into otome games lmao
