Honestly I miss the days where there was actual plot to give tension or trauma instead of pushing S/A every 10 chapters. I do think it's skill issue and following gerd culture. Like if you're a talented writer you could make the audience/reader cry without torturing the MC. Sometimes I also feel like they really hate their own created character. (......
