Death

Im actually so afraid of death I always remind myself that Its going to happen so much time later but I think I will still be terrifed of the idea even in my 80s(if I dont die till that age)
Im not a religious person so I dont believe in after life but Im so scared of the idea that going to blank and not have a existence but It feels wrong to believe in religion just because Im scared of after death?
Im curious of your opinions about the topic

Hmm it depends what aspect of death you are afraid of the pyschial pain or the thoughts of perishing. I understand you are not religious but i feel like the assurance or the solace you want to find about death is not gonna come from other ppl bc no one actually experience it and comes back. As an atheist, i.e. not religious (thank Arceus), I am also afraid of the "emptiness" at death. I imagine it's like when you sleep; peaceful, warm, comfortable, trouble-free - harmony. It is hard to imagine living in a emtyiness forever? How long is forever? reply

nothing after death is comforting for me, i hope theres no afterlife. but id be lying if i said that also didnt scare me at times. both an afterlife being possible but also nothing at all. reply

Death is certain. The unchangeable law. It's an unavoidable fate for all living beings. Sleep can be viewed as temporary death. It's not the death that we're afraid of, it's the things after that. The judgement. The purgatory. Either heaven or hell. reply

I understand how you feel. Personally I struggled with the thought of not existing anymore and how that could be possible, like I experience life solely because I exist so the absence of my existence, of my consciousness, was incomprehensible to me. This sent me into a spiral of "why am I who I am and not someone else" and "how is it possible that...... reply

Why should I fear that which can only exist when I do not?" i like to think of it as just eternal sleep without any dreams, you weren't conscious before you were born and you won't be after you die. if you aren't religious realistically the only think you should be...... reply
