This could also be how uneducated authors are in sex-ed or just basic sex etiquette or just how to be a decent human being.   1 reply

As another gay dude reading yaoi, I think about this a lot. My understanding is it largely has to do with myths about masculinity. Most yaoi back in the day run with common understandings of toxic masculinity, such as that men are inherently horny, hypersexual beings and that their love must always come with a sexual component ("you know you're in......   2 reply

I saw a video on TikTok talking about how South Korea views sexual assault crime. I see comments saying that victims often face stigmatization. Like victim-blaming is so fucking common. The justice system is also lenient in perpetrators? They either avoid getting jail time or if not, they are given light sentences. After I read it, the rape culture......   4 reply

I always blame this phenomena on Lezhin tbh. They normalize having rape scenes in their manhwas, causing other BLs to jump on that same bandwagon so they can "belong". 90% of BLs in Lezhin are filled with rape or at least some non-consensual scenes to the point that I joke to my friends that perhaps the contract forces them to include those scenes ......   reply

why do men as a whole have shitty behavior in anime; In shoujo/josei you have men forcing themselves on women and in shounen seinen they put their hands on women when she didn't give permission but somehow she doesn't care about this random dude feeling her tits or shoving his hand inside her while she is drunk.   reply

I read this comment here on questions : "Author's note from The New Employee being nervous about making green flag ML coz Korean MLs are wholly red-flag-centric. Imagine...an author hesitating about drawing an ML from a fairly well- known classic BL and make him red-flag coz that's a Korean norm (though, really. Red flags are the go- to for major......   reply

It's not yaoi it's every smut. Ppl often don't realise it in straight smut or Yuri bec it's also so normalised or they don't care enough of whats happening and just like the sex scenes. Trust me shitty MLs are common everywhere and most of these authors who write them write it for the purpose of a "rough sex scene". Seriously go read shounen-ai or ......   2 reply

people need to keep in mind while reading yaoi (not just yaoi but manga/has in general) that not evry good artist is a good story teller. from what I noticed most of the stories are made by good artists that are just regular ppl. being a good artist AND a good story teller is quite uncommon unfortunately. so what we have is just artists deepest des......   2 reply
