My advice: be upfront with shit, don't bottle things up expecting the other person to catch on to the fact that things are going south. I've lived with roommates throughout college, and lemme tell you living alone is the best thing in life. I was also nervous for this last year, but i ended up with a nice and quite roommate. I wouldn't really call us friends as we only talked occasionally, but we coexisted really well. So well that I have nothing to complain about after the year we roomed together. Just be nice and considerate and your roommate will hopefully be the same. For my 2nd ......   reply

I rent out a room from my aunt and basically, I'm just living with family so I can't tell any roommate stories, especially with a stranger. I would get a lock for your door to ensure the stranger or their friends aren't going through your room when your not home. A door knob with a lock is reasonable.
