OMG YES IVE BEEN NOTICING THIS TOO!! Its always just either them angrily eye fucking eachother while holding weapons at their throats, hugging eachother while laughing or one of them is scared while the other one is holding them by the throat or waist. Like can yall b more creative??
I can kind of sympathize with this, because people who only read romance aren't going to click on a cover with one person or God forbid a personless picture, and there are only so many ways you can slot two people on a rectangle format and make it readable from a distance. On the other hand, authors that are willing to risk a little for a better cover, even as it might loose them some readers usually tell better stories.
However the next time a cover has a unique and interesting art style and the story is actually the standart copy & paste bodies, with cheap 3d background and random chibi versions to save time, I am not bothering with it, no matter how good the story is.
There are also a lot of movies? and “same poster design syndrome” is a problem many people have brought up, I don’t see your point. Sometimes it can’t be avoided for marketing purposes, but yes, you can have unique poster layouts.. It’s especially sad when a bunch of famous covers are all the same. There are also a lot of people who all use the same pfp but most find a unique one to use. There aren’t “not enough pictures” for you to have a unique pfp. Different circumstances but same issue. I don’t expect all million covers to be totally unique but I’d hope they aren’t all copy and paste. Humans do still have creativity

I honestly agree, I feel like they could have found different more meaningful ways to show the characters together, not just them getting
